Animal House event
Members of the Ross Family Foundation were treated to a special tour of the
Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas by president Jim Silveira. This incredible
facility is a safe haven for dogs, cats, and rabbits.
Situated on over 4 acres, the Rancho Coastal Humane Society provides food and shelter
for homeless animals. Several hundred volunteers are involved in helping to care for these
adorable animals. Started in 1961, the goal has always been to care for homeless animals
in San Diego County, and public education about pet over-population. Thinking of adopting
a pet? You’ve come to the right place.
Want to volunteer? The very friendly staff will welcome you. After our tour, we attended
the 4th annual Animal House fundraiser. Delicious dinner, music by the Lounge Lizards
Jazz Quartet, and a silent and live auction entertained the crowd.
Custom designed dog, cat and bird houses delighted all. AND…some of the homeless
animals happily housed at the shelter were on hand to meet, greet, and bring big smiles
to all those in attendance.
